Credits & billing
How credits work, when you are charged, refunds, telescope rates, and the moon discount.

StellarDock uses a credit-based system. This page explains how credits work, when you're charged, and how refunds are applied.
When you are charged
Credits are deducted at the time you book a reservation or execute a plan — not when the session ends. Exposure time is charged in full upfront when the reservation is confirmed, so you must have sufficient credits before booking.
This is a change from iTelescope
On iTelescope, billing happened after a session completed. On StellarDock, credits are reserved upfront when you book.
Credit types
Your balance has two kinds of credits, shown separately in the app header:

Regular credits
Included with your subscription each month
Have a set lifespan — 365 days from issue
Can be used on any telescope
Discovery credits
A fixed monthly allowance included with your subscription
Can only be used on Discovery telescopes
Consumed ahead of your regular credits on a Discovery telescope
Refunds for failed or partial sessions
If a session fails or only partially completes, StellarDock automatically refunds the unused credits:
Automatic — no need to request a refund; it happens immediately.
Same balance — credits return to your account balance, not a separate wallet.
Instant — available for your next booking right away.
Note
Refunds for defective images (clouds, tracking errors, focus drift) are a separate, manually-reviewed request — see Image Downloads & Refunds.
Telescope pricing
All telescopes have a fixed hourly rate regardless of your subscription plan. Rates are shown on the Dashboard next to each telescope, and the full list is published right here on this site:

Moon discount
50% off when the moon is bright
When moon illumination is 75% or higher, all bookings automatically receive a 50% credit discount — applied at booking time, no code or action required. It's a great time to shoot narrowband targets, which are far less affected by moonlight.
Existing iTelescope members
You can transfer your iTelescope points to StellarDock credits. See Existing iTelescope Members for the full transfer process.
